It was another busy weekend’s racing for our athletes in the freezing temperatures, with Team Blizard taking on snow, ice, rain and hail, but at least our Normanby Hall Adventure Race saw some sunshine beaming down on the hardy competitors yesterday morning!

First up in our racing round up report is our brilliant Blizard ambassador and fast improving lactate threshold athlete, Emily Whall from Lincsquad, who raced twice this weekend, and made the podium both times!

It seems mud is her friend after she firstly posted an outright PB of 46:06 at the Flamingo Land 10k on Saturday, finishing an incredible third lady, before hitting the podium yet again at our Normanby Hall Adventure Race 10k, where she beat her time on the same course from just four months ago by a huge 6 minutes and 20 seconds!

Check out the photos below to see how much fun she had in the process, we hope to see lots more of you at our next Blizard and Curly’s events, check out the Curly’s site for all the details!

Russ Walker and Stuart Bartley were also representing Team Blizard in the mud and deep water obstacles yesterday, as can be testified by the hilarious photo below!

Team Blizard elite athlete and plucky Rotherham Harrier, Fiona Davies, again defied all the odds when she not only won the Windmill 6m in 37:41, but came second OVERALL! This was despite suffering with a painful sciatic nerve injury, that is being treated by our own Jenny Blizard. Fiona - you’re a star!

As mentioned in our Saturday report, Barlick’s Matt Lalor finished sixth at the massively challenging Stan Bradshaw fell race at Pendle Hill on the weekend, despite spending his working week in the flatlands of Cambridge at the moment, while prolific blogger and marathon speedster Dan Page won the No Walk in the Park 5k in Chesterfield on a challenging hilly course in a superb 16:50.

Sheffield’s Rob Jones only had his lactate threshold test at the clinic a few weeks ago, but is already posting PBs galore, his latest being at the Ed Prickett relays, where he clocked 12:02 for 1.9 miles, while Mansfield's Ged Naylor also ran well for his 12:10 result.

Kingstone’s Mark Havenhand finished a superb 11th overall at the Norton 9 mile road race, completing the course in an impressive 52:52, while Doncaster’s Chris Pye continued his fantastic form in the build up to this year’s London marathon with a massive PB of 57:15 at the Norton 9 mile road race, beating last year’s time by nearly two minutes, and Knavesmire Harriers’ Sarah Attwood marched to a brilliant 6th lady position when she clocked 60:22!

Our own masseur in residence and classy athlete in his own right, Owen James, battled the freezing temperatures at Rutland Water when he finished a strong 56th in the Dambusters Duathlon, which saw him tackle a 10km run, then a 42km bike ride, culminating in a gruelling final 5km run. Well done Owen, lots more to come from you in this event we’re sure!

Finally, Edinburgh’s John Reynolds set a brand new parkrun 5k PB of 17:16 in the city’s hilly parkrun, and Kimberworth’s Lee Weatherall finished second in the Longhorn Marathon at Thoresby Hall in Nottinghamshire - what a result!
