High winds at the Dewsbury 10k couldn't stop our Team Blizard stars from blowing the rest of the field away, with SBs and PBs galore!

Strong winds must have seemed daunting to the majority who lined up to race the Dewsbury 10k, but our Jenny Blizard made small fry of the inclement conditions by posting her fastest time for three years yesterday!

A time of 36:22 proved the continual return to form for the first V40 in a very competitive field, and confirmed her credentials as one of the top female endurance runners in the country as she pushes to get closer to her world class PB of 34:08 with the use of lactate threshold training and a low carb, high fat diet.

Also running consistently strongly was our elite Team Blizard triathlete, Tom Morris, whose time of 34:08 matches Jen's lifetime best, and placed him 21st overall in less than ideal conditions.

He said it had been 'hard running' but his position was all the more impressive considering the huge 1300-strong field!

Tom's partner Jess Barrington went one better and ran her fastest ever 10k time with an ever improving 47:36, while Barnsley's Leigh Allsopp also ran a huge PB of 43:02, extolling the virtues of his new Blizard training plan by tweeting '#HRZoneTrainingPayingOff, boom!'

We couldn't put it better ourselves Leigh!

Not to be outdone by the star parade of glittering results was our consistently high performing Team Blizard star, Kelly Raven, whose time of 42:03 was just 20 seconds outside her PB in high winds! Now one of Askern’s best female runners, Kelly was running outside 45 minutes just 16 months ago, but thanks to her commitment to heart rate training, she is getting closer to beating the 40 minute barrier with every race.
