November 22nd 2015: Our Blizard and Curly's Normanby Hall Adventure Race is a storming muddy success!

Article text
We are always so impressed with our ever growing band of Team Blizard athletes when they hit the racing circuit, but this weekend takes the biscuit, with runners, duathletes and adventure racers competing and having fun in some of the windiest, coldest weather we’ve seen for a long time!

First up to be featured in our racing round up report is the Curly’s and Blizard’s Normanby Hall Adventure Race, which saw hundreds of very brave souls taking on a muddy, hugely challenging near-10km course in freezing conditions yesterday morning.

The event was won by Scunthorpe’s V45 ace, Simon Griffin, who swiped victory from under the noses of our two Team Blizard elite athletes, Tom Morris and Mike Chadwick, who weren’t far behind in second and third. Tom and Mike’s full race reports can be read here: http://blizardtrirt.blogspot.co.uk

Also deserving of a mention were Team Blizard ambassador, Emily Whall, her Lincsquad club mate, Nicky Robinson, and Matt Russell, all regulars on the local racing circuit and big fans of all things muddy and fun, both of which Sunday’s adventure race provided in bucketfuls!

Emily was the focus of one of the most amusing photos of the day, where she appears to be flying over one of the many obstacles, while also maintaining an effortlessly glamorous exterior!

She enthused: “It was an absolutely brilliant race, with 80 obstacles, horse jumps, mud and water! The atmosphere and organisation was perfect, and the course was brilliant, I loved being able to clear some of the jumps, and even took to flying over some hay bales!”

Emily was one of many who took advantage of a fantastic opportunity to try a pair of On Running shoes for the duration of the race, and found the Cloudcruisers to be perfect for the muddy conditions.

“The Cloudcruisers were so comfy, and brilliant running through the mud and water and jumping over the jumps - I can't wait for the next mud race! I loved my hoodie, and the medal was a nice added bonus!”

The next Curly’s adventure race is back at Normanby Hall on March 6th next year, but get your entries in quick as nearly all the numbers have been snapped up already within the first 24 hours!

Entries are being taken here: http://www.riderhq.com/events/68962/normanby-hall-adventure-race-0/enter, with all the race information on Curly’s site here: http://www.curlysathletes.co.uk/events-we-support.html

Special mention must also go to Jono Frary, Dave Tune and Jenny Blizard, and the scores of other hardy marshals who braved the wintry elements to ensure the day went smoothly - well done team!
