Creating your site
Creating Sections
Once you have set your options and chosen your style, you are ready to add and edit the content of your site. Each Clikpic site is made up of “sections” which can be listed your site's menu. You can create the sections, put them in whatever order you wish, and call them whatever you want. However, before you start building your site, you should understand how each of the sections are structured, so that you can fit whatever information you have into the most appropriate section structure.
There are many different types of sections for your site, as described in the table following. As you will see, only the Home page is not optional. You can have multiple sections of most types, this is indicated in the column “multi” in the table below.
| Section | Details | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Home | Editing your home page | Your homepage features selected image(s) from your galleries and some introductory text. This section is not optional. |
| Photo gallery | Adding images to your site | Used to display photos, optionally divided up into galleries and sub galleries. You can also opt to use slideshows or “pop-ups”. |
| Single page | Creating a Single page section | A single page section, with a heading, an optional introduction, and text. Designed to serve as “About us” pages or simple announcements or statements. |
| Multiple pages | Creating a Multiple pages section |
Multiple pages are designed to list a series of “articles”, showing the heading and summary
and an optional link for further information. Multiple page sections can be used to list any information - diary dates, venues, a series of notes or studies, or even a list of admin notices. |
| Slideshow | Adding slideshows to your site | Section showing a single slideshow of photos |
| Links | Creating & editing a Links section | Links sections can be used to create links to other sites or to create directories and address lists. |
| Forms | Adding forms and comments to your site | Forms for your users and customers to send you messages or add comments. |
| Guestbook | Messages and the guestbook | List messages from your users |
| Blank | Adding other content to your site | Sections without any standard content for you to use as you like. |
| Pricing information | Using the pricing information page | Single page section with price options automatically inserted (see Using the pricing information page for more information) |
| Shopping cart | Creating a shopping cart | Automatically added if you add selling capabilities to your site |
| Checkout | Selling without a payment provider | |
| Search | Adding a search facility to your site | (Pro users and above) A photo search facility for your site. |
To help you see how the sections work, we have provided samples of most types in your trial site. To see them, go to Sections in the admin system. Click edit for the respective section and you will see a series of fields, which is where you enter the information to configure the section. Each type of section has slightly different options. You can overwrite the sample information with your own text and settings.
You can also create new sections according to the instructions in the following sections.
